Music Monday

Music and fashion have influenced each other for eons, and even more so since MTV (when it was Music Television) turned culture on its head. Music Monday, formerly Le lundi musique (pronounced Leh-loon-dee-muse-eek in French), explores this relationship and their influence upon us.

This coming weekend, Louisville and the surrounding area will converge upon The Belvedere near the Ohio River for the annual celebration of all things LGBTQ, the Kentuckiana Pride Festival. Music Monday: Ray Manzarek (1939 – 2013)

20 May 2013

Originally, I had planned for this edition of Music Monday to be about the winners from this year’s Billboard Music Awards. I may have even found time to bust on Justin Bieber’s leather “horse manure bag” pants and matching top, as well as his plea to take him seriously since winning some not-really-life achievement award-type [...]

29 April 2013

Ten years ago on a Monday in late April, Apple introduced its latest version of their digital media player, iTunes 4.0. 8 April 2013

In 1903, Shepherd’s Bush Empire opened its doors in Shepherd’s Bush, London, England. In the 110 years since, the historic theatre survived the Battle of London, was the home of much of BBC’s television programming from the early 1950s through the early 1990s, and went back to its roots in the 20 years since the [...]

1 April 2013

Bob Dylan. Billy Joel. Madonna. The Rolling Stones. Barbara Streisand. These five artists, along with a number of their contemporaries, had one thing in common: Phil Ramone. The legendary producer left this mortal coil 30 March 2013 at the age of 79, bringing an end to over five decades of influence in the music industry [...]

Music Monday: End of March 2013 Edition

25 March 2013

Come next Monday, everyone and their mother will be playing increasingly lame and/or stupid April Fool’s Day pranks on each other. If they were smart, they’d instead spend around $120 to $200 USD — depending on factory of origin — on a pair of Docs in honor of the manufacturer’s first product, the 1460, first [...]

Music Monday: Eighties Edition

4 March 2013

A new month means new themes for the ephemeral iPod to play for your ears and eyes, and March is no exception. This one, however, will need a DeLorean to experience. Privately, I’ve been experiencing the 1980s one way or another, and have come to found that pop music from the era — not necessarily [...]

Thanks to how this month has been structured over the millenia, February is almost over. Thus, let us now flick the switch on the ephemeral iPod, and let the magic happen randomly. What songs have I chosen for your ears this month? Just walk on in…
