Been too long since I’ve featured a fellow blogger. Time to warm up the spotlight once more!

This week’s Follow Friday brings us to my city of Louisville, Kentucky for an interview with Lauren Rambo of SOUTH x STYLE. The former Texan began blogging this July, and is already making her mark on the local fashion blogging scene. Make the jump to learn more about what brought her here, what she originally thought about Louisville (and how that’s changed since then), and what prompted her to take up fashion blogging in the first place.

Lauren Rambo of SOUTH x STYLE looking very adorable for autumn.
Name of Blog: SOUTH x STYLE
Date of Founding: July 2012
A Short Description of Your Blog: I chronicle the style of Louisville, Kentucky.
How did you find your way into fashion blogging?
Rambo: I just did it! I love following fashion and using it as a means of self-expression. I was also phasing out of a full-time job, and wanted a creative outlet.
What is the story behind the name of your blog?
Rambo: It got stuck in my head. I couldn’t think of anything else, so I thought, why not?
In 2006, you were 22, and had moved from Dallas, Texas, to Louisville, Ky. At that time, you described your new home as having “no style,” which in hindsight was a reflection upon the culture you had known for as long as you could remember, then comparing it to the culture now before you. What brought you to Louisville originally, and what has changed for you in the six years since your relocation?
Rambo: My husband. He moved from Texas to Louisville a year earlier to pursue his masters. Once we were married, I moved.
So much has changed. I became an adult. I became a mother. I learned to enjoy my station in life rather than desperately look for “the next thing.” It’s really wonderful, actually. Now it almost scares me to think about moving back to Texas. Louisville has become home.
It has been three months since you’ve begun fashion blogging. How have you found the experience of running a blog thus far, and has any of your experiences found their way into your professional life?
Rambo:My former professional life certainly influences my blog (not the other way around). I worked for very tough and very smart people for a lot of years. It sharpened my mind, made me obsessive about details, and toughened me up against criticism (of which there is a lot when you put yourself at the mercy of the internet).
Where do you see you and your blog by the time you reach your first anniversary next July?
Rambo: One million readers, minimum. Just kidding. I hope my photography is much better. I hope I have a steady editorial calendar. I hope I have really creative, funny, and original content that Louisvillians love and want to read. I hope I inspire Louisvillians that yes, they can have a unique style perspective, and Louisville is not a fashion blackhole. I hope to grow a readership and to be honest, make a little money (just a little). If I’m dreaming big: Lucchese would want to partner with me somehow.

Rambo reaching out to her little one, looking fabulous as always.
Rambo: I have my husband read everything before I publish it. He’s very supportive but not easily impressed. About a month ago he was reading my blog and laughed out loud. One of my favorite moments.
Why do you blog?
Rambo: I love Louisville. I love style. I like writing and having a creative outlet.
If there was one post that says, “This is what my blog is all about,” which one would it be?
Rambo: Probably this one. It’s everything I want to do with my blog: Show stylish Louisvillians, and promote great local businesses.
What one piece of advice would you offer my readers regarding…
Style: Wear clothes that fit.
First impressions: Smile, be confident, and wear something great.
Life in general: Uhhh…
Who is your blog for?
Rambo: Louisvillians – men, women, old, young, interested and uninterested in fashion.
Who is the blogger you most admire, and why?
Rambo: The Pioneer Woman. She loves her husband and kids. She’s funny and a great writer.
Any final words?
Rambo: Thanks for featuring me!
