Le suivre vendredi – Dramatis Personae

One year ago, I decided to borrow a couple of concepts from Twitter and turn them into features. The first was Music Monday, which I turned into « Le lundi musique » , which allowed me to share with all of you the music I enjoyed and, subliminally, the fashions worn by my favorite artists.

The second was Follow Friday, which became « Le suivre vendredi » . I wanted to feature bloggers I dug for whatever reason in order to convince you why (or why not) you, my readers, should add them to your reading list. I also chose to focus on one blogger at a time in order to “follow” the original intent of Follow Friday: Pick a person you follow and explain why your followers should follow them.

We all know how well that worked. ;P

My first LSV was Tokyobanhbao, who had come to my attention because of her work with my favorite French Pop star, Alizée. Her excellent artistic skills combined with her love of fashion and manga made it all that much easier.

Today is the first anniversary of « Le suivre vendredi » , and for this edition, I’ve chosen a blogger whose work with IFB has actually helped me with this blog recently. What better way to repay this blogger than to feature them?

Mesdames et messieurs, bienvenue s’il vous plaît sur ce, le premier anniversaire de « Le suivre vendredi » , mon premier blogguese pour mai 2011, Ashe Mischief de Dramatis Personae !

I came upon Ashe, a blogger from New Orleans who wears many hats masks (thus, the name of her blog), somewhere online. I really can’t say where I first saw her. Was a comment on Wendy Brandes’s blog? Was it on IFB? Was it through Twitter? Eh. Who can say? What made me choose to finally feature her, though, was an article she wrote for IFB about streamlining your blog design to attract readers and (possibly) advertisers. It was the third suggestion (the first 800 pixels at the top of your blog are prime advert real estate) that had me flip the arrangement of the second column to what is seen now, with the Manifesto in all its militaristic and fashionable glory at the very top for all to see. I also asked if I should go to a text-only banner like she had suggested, to which she said that, in my case, it would make my blog too quiet to be noticed.

Speaking of blogs, though, what will you find in hers? More advice such as when to skimp and when not to skimp lest your shoes break and cannot even be resoled, leaving you with only the sparkly studded straps as a souvenir…

Yes, that happened to me. They were Simply Vera Vera Wang boots.

Anyway, Ashe also has her own weekly link collection alongside IFB’s Links à la Mode, philosophical posts from her own point of view, her love of shoes, and even attempts to walk in the shoes of others.

Why should you add Dramatis Personae to your reading list? You love those who make the world just a bit more interesting, you love to learn new things–especially if they help your own blog–and you love shoes… a lot.

Why should you not add Dramatis Personae to your reading list? You don’t know who Osama bin Laden was or how magnets work, you prefer one-dimensional characters, or you prefer to get your advice from a cute if a bit stupid puppy.
