MMXII: The Year of the Quickening

Have you all recovered from the revelry, having bid farewell to 2011 and all it brought into your lives? Good, because time waits for no man, and 2012 is no exception…

MMXII

Last year, I made a list of things to accomplish for 2011. Not necessarily resolutions — I’m just not into those — but goals I had wanted to take on and make real. Let’s see how I did.

Louisville, Kentucky

  • Take you through more of Louisville, Kentucky, the city I call home: Ding-Ding! I took you to a few places in my city that I liked, and even showed you my neighbourhoodtwice!
  • Make it to at least one major fashion week: Ding-Ding-Ding! Oh did I ever.
  • Relearn how to drive and regain my license: Bonk. That was derailed due to loss of employment/income.
  • Learn more French before heading off to Paris to celebrate my 33rd birthday: Big Bonk. Didn’t have enough vacation time then, not enough income now.
  • Monetize my blog/skills gained from blogging: Bonk. Not being paid yet.
  • Comment more, and not always on the same blogs: Ding. Still could use more work, though.
  • Throw in an outfit post now and then: Big Bonk. Closest I got was the mirror photo I took during Fashion’s Night Out.
  • Meet a few bloggers in person: Ding-Ding-Ding! Coming to New York in February allowed me to meet quite a few of you; you know who you all are.
  • Try to bring more fashion-/style-related items to the party: Toss. It’s open to interpretation.
  • Expand Music Monday into a mini music magazine: Bonk. It actually became MTV circa 1981, which has its bonuses.

So, what of this year, then? I have a few ideas…

SAAB Dashboard

  • If my skills aren’t being employed by anyone else, employ them myself
  • Relearn how to drive + regain my license
  • Do more to promote Louisville and (especially) Louisville fashion + style
  • Expand and develop my photography skills into film as well as digital
  • Return to New York for (at least) #IFBcon, if not New York Fashion Week

It’s a start.

What say you? What ideas do you have in mind for your 2012?

I effing hate resolutions! Plus by the end of the year I never quite remember what I set out to do anyway. I did have this wonky idea that I’d complete a new illustration for my blog every month and I couldn’t even complete that– bah! Looks like you completed a few hefty goals though so that’s awesome even if it isn’t everything. Kind of gives me ideas of what I should be doing too. Good luck!

I definitely agree with you. Making New Year’s resolutions just seems comical to me, especially since they always come with the stigma of failure from the outset, which becomes a self-fulling prophecy in the end. Pfft !

Anyway, I wish you luck on your goals for 2012. May they all be as you had hoped they would be. Big hugs!

Sounds like some good goals! I am working on some changes for NoH as one of my big 2012 goals… other than that, I am pretty open!

Cool! I figured I’d scale down my goals to five this year. Just seemed like a good idea. Can’t wait to see what changes you’ll bring to your blog this year! Good luck and happy 2012! xoxoxoxo

I have all these vague goals this year … lately I’m thinking I have to cut back on reading negative/snarky stuff online!

That’s a good goal to have. May your other goals become clear to you in 2012!
